Emily Mayer, director of business insight at IRI France, says that despite ongoing commercial negotiations, inflation continues to rise in January, especially in the categories of paper tissues, frozen meats, and ground meats. The overall basket of goods has increased by 15% in January, and inflation is expected to continue to rise in the coming months. The increase in prices is due to a reduction in previously negotiated prices in stores and the impact of distributors' rising costs (energy and salaries). Distributors will have to balance the price increase with negotiations with manufacturers to avoid loss of volume.
