The egg aisle breaks records
Eggs were very popular in 2020. Each French person consumed an average of 224 eggs over the year! The penetration rate has now reached a record 99%, up one point in one year. Sales volumes have jumped by 11% compared to 2019.

In addition, the sector is continuing its transition and is transforming cage farms at great speed. While the objective was to achieve one out of two hens in alternative rearing by 2022, 64% of laying hens are already reared on the ground, in the open air or organically, compared with 53% in 2019.
